Rutgers-New Brunswick Students

SAS and SEBS Students (Joint Degree)

Students enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) are required to submit the Application for Declaration of Undergraduate Major prior to declaring a Bloustein School major. Applicants should have a minimum grade of “C” or better in each of the prerequisite courses for their intended area of study and be in good academic standing. Once admitted to the major, students will remain in their primary school (SAS or SEBS) completing its Core Curriculum, and their major requirements with the Bloustein School.

Note: Public Health is the only primary major option offered by the Bloustein School for students in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS). Any of our majors can be selected as a second major to a SEBS program.

Professional School Students (Second Program)

Students enrolled in a Rutgers-New Brunswick professional school (i.e. School of Engineering), who wish to declare a Bloustein School major, are required to submit the Application for Declaration of Undergraduate Major. The Bloustein major would be the students secondary program. Prior to applying, the students should meet with an advisor in their dean’s office to determine if it is possible to pursue a Bloustein School major.

School to School Transfer

  • A minimum of 30 credits before the transfer
  • Completion of the prerequisite courses for desired program of study with grades of C or better and a minimum 2.500 cumulative grade point average.
  • The prerequisite course(s) may be in progress when the application is submitted. The course(s) should be completed before the application deadline. The application will be reviewed after the grade(s) is posted.

For prerequisite courses completed outside of Rutgers, the same guidelines used for external applicants will be applied:

  • Students are required to earn a grade of C or better in order for the credits to transfer to Rutgers-Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
