T. Patrick Hill, a Rutgers-New Brunswick professor of ethics and law, is available to discuss a New Jersey bill that would eliminate religion as a reason not to vaccinate public schoolchildren. Lawmakers are expected to vote Monday afternoon.
“The vaccination requirement poses ethical questions, not the least of which is the suspension of parental medical decision-making for their children in favor of the interests of the public’s health,” he said.
Hill is an assistant professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. He teaches courses in public health law and ethics, ethics for planning and public policy, and writing, reasoning and public policy.
