Report
Presentation
This studio project is an analysis of the health impacts of the potential new bike share program planned for Rutgers and three surrounding communities. The report, prepared for the Rutgers University Department of Institutional Planning and Operation (IPO), highlights existing bicycle and transportation infrastructure, and analyzes the physical, mental, social, and economic health impacts of the potential bike share program for users and residents, paying special attention to the needs of vulnerable subpopulations.
The study includes a literature review, a survey of Rutgers students and extensive GIS-based analysis. The result is a set of impact projections and actionable recommendations related to bike share program implementation and infrastructure locations, targeted at maximizing positive health outcomes and program access, while mitigating health concerns.
