Barnegat housing is booming, and it's because of baby boomers

As baby boomers get older, demand for age-restricted homes is expected to remain strong for years to come, said James W. Hughes, the former dean of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University.

“Every seven and a half seconds, starting in 2001, another baby boomer turned 55. That’s 11,000 per day,” said Hughes. “Developers saw that continuing for the next 17 years.”
