As an academic who has taught U.S. #healthcarepolicy for over two decades and published numerous studies about #healthinsurance and #healthcaremarkets, Bloustein School distinguished professor of #publicpolicy and director of the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy Joel C. Cantor did not expect to be a victim of a system he thought he knew. Recent episodes of medical care led to over $2,000 in incorrect bills and threats of collection agencies. Even with “insider knowledge” and patience, he knows he is just one of many dealing with these types of issues. He predicts that these administrative problems are likely to worsen, and makes some suggestions as to what can be done to help patients in similar situations.
