Census tracks exit from Sussex County

James Hughes, dean of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University, took part in a federally funded study last year that put Sussex County’s plight in context.

“This is a broader, regional story that goes beyond New Jersey,” Hughes said, explaining that less-convenient sections of New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut also are grappling with population losses at the expense of cities.
