Virtual training for community professionals and leaders interested in climate change

The New Jersey Climate Change Resource Center at Rutgers University is offering free virtual training on the use of Rutgers’ climate change data visualization and mapping tools, NJADAPT. These data tools are designed to support efforts by communities to understand the impacts of climate change using the latest science and authoritative data.

Rutgers invites individuals eager to participate in this free training to express their interest here by May 15, 2022. Rutgers will choose 30 participants from those who apply. Applicants not chosen will be notified about future training opportunities.

This training is ideal for the following community leaders and professionals: planners, flood plain managers, hazard mitigation planners, public health officers, planning and zoning board members, environmental commissioners and other elected or appointed officials or community leaders who are interested in preparing their community for climate change impacts.

 
 

Training participants will:

  • Become proficient in use of the NJADAPT tools to inform community climate change planning; and
  • Receive a Rutgers University certificate of completion.

Approved CEUs: This virtual event has been approved for:

  • 2 AICP CM Credits
  • 1 NJUCF CEU – Urban and Community Forestry
  • 2 CECs – Association for Flood Plain Management
  • 2 – Public Health CES

The NJ Climate Change Resource Center (NJCCRC) offers free webinars focusing on the latest information on climate change impacts, decision-making, and resilience within New Jersey. The NJCCRC is dedicated to supporting informed climate action at the public, private, non-governmental, and community levels throughout New Jersey from emissions reduction to building adaptation and resilience by providing actionable science, planning tools, technical guidance, and support to policymakers, practitioners, and communities. Its members share the goal of advancing science-informed climate change strategies at the state and local levels in New Jersey, both with regard to adapting to changing climate conditions and addressing the emissions that cause climate change. It is overseen and facilitated by faculty and staff from Rutgers University’s Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and the Rutgers Climate Institute.
