“The Founding Fathers abhorred the concept of a national religion. They believed that state support would in the long run, harm, not help, faith. We would be well advised to revisit their thinking, and the experiences that prompted it, as we confront, increasingly, a push to create a national religion, often enough by those who think we already have one: Christianity.”
