Office of Brownfield & Community Revitalization, Contaminated Site Remediation & Redevelopment

Bloustein School Alums Josephine (O’Grady) Michener (MPP ’25) and Doug Leung (MCRP ’24) worked with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) staff on a ARCGIS StoryMap highlighting key programs including the Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund Program, Brownfield Development Area Program, and Landfill Development Program. The StoryMap provides information and resources to assist the regulated community and showcases some of the notable site remediation and redevelopment projects managed by the Contaminated Site Remediation & Redevelopment’s Office of Brownfield & Community Revitalization (OBCR).
Josephine Michener is a Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund (HDSRF) Coordinator at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) in the Office of Brownfield & Community Revitalization. In this role, she reviews grant and loan applications for the HDSRF, supports Brownfield Project Managers with case management, and serves on the Regulatory Committee of the Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast.
Doug Leung is a Hazard Mitigation Planner for the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. He worked as an Environmental Services Trainee in the Office of Brownfield and Community Revitalization in the NJ Department of Environmental Protection from Sep 2023 – Jun 2024.
