Ventnor's proposed new landscaping rules tabled; seen as too onerous

Sarno’s objection to planting grass in the governor’s strip came two days after a researcher from the Rutgers University Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy recommended Ventnor decrease impervious surfaces in the city; and one way to do that is by planting grass or vegetation in the governor’s strip.

Senior researcher Stacy Krause told residents and city officials that ecosystems are impacted when impervious surfaces reach 10 percent, adding that Ventnor has more than 25 percent impervious coverage.
