NTI’s Larrousse presents transit planning, financial, organizational sessions in Singapore

Paul Larrousse, director of the National Transit Institute, recently participated as one of the U.S. facilitators/trainers as part of the Singapore-United States Third Country Training Program Workshop on Sustainable Urban Transport Planning and Management.  The workshop took place in Singapore from August 13 to 23; the first week of the training workshop focused on highways, while the second week was transit and technology.

Larrousse was invited to participate  in the transit and technology part of the workshop by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Office of the Secretary.  The U.S. involvement was part of theU.S. Department of State Lower Mekong Initiative that seeks to provide technical assistance and enhance cooperation in the areas of environment, health, education, and infrastructure development to the developing nations in Southeast Asia.

Participants in the workshop included students from Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Larrousse presented sessions on transit planning, rail systems, public participation, transit system financing and transit systems organizational structures while also facilitating student discussions and evaluating presentations.
