Brownfield Development Area (BDA) Workshop

January 24 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Abandoned Baker Castor Oil Company - Industrial Wasteland - Bayonne, New Jersey

Does your municipality have abandoned or underutilized contaminated properties? Do you have a vision for your blighted brownfield sites? This workshop is open to elected officials and staff of municipal, county, quasi-governments,
and associated consultants.

NJDEP’s Brownfield Development Area (BDA) program is a voluntary partnership between municipalities, stakeholders and the NJDEP Office of Brownfield and Community Revitalization to work closely together to repurpose abandoned or underutilized contaminated “brownfield” properties. The BDA program partners with diverse communities affected by multiple brownfield sites to identify technical and financial resources to help design and implement investigation, remediation, and reuse plans for these properties in a coordinated manner, so blighted brownfield properties can be remediated and redeveloped in a timely manner.

You will learn:

  • How your municipality would benefit from being designated as a Brownfield Development Area
  • How other municipalities have benefitted from a BDA designation
  • The components of the BDA application
  • How to obtain free technical assistance in transforming your brownfields into community assets

Sponsored by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the NJIT TAB Program.
