A growing number of households in the United States earn above the federal poverty level, yet struggle to afford basic living expenses. These households are termed ALICE or Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. The Heldrich Center for Workforce Development invites you to participate in a discussion about United for ALICE, an initiative dedicated to driving innovation, research, and action to improve the lives of nancially unstable households in New Jersey
and across the nation.

Hosted by Andrea Hetling, Ph.D., Professor at the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and Associate Director of the Heldrich Center, the event
will feature:

Remarks about the grassroots ALICE movement from Kiran Handa Gaudioso, Chief Executive Ocer of the United Way of Northern New Jersey;

A presentation with New Jersey and national ALICE data, research, and best practices from Stephanie Hoopes, Ph.D., National Director of United for ALICE; and

An insightful conversation between Dr. Hetling, Ms. Gaudioso, and Dr. Hoopes about fnancial insecurity and putting the lessons from ALICE into practice to promote policies that improve economic well-being, followed by audience Q&A.
