Coltrane Stansbury MPP '04 selected as 2017 NASPAA Alumni Spotlight Award honoree

NASPAA recently announced that Coltrane Stansbury MPP ’04 was selected for a 2017 Alumni Spotlight Award. The Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) is the membership association of graduate programs in public administration, public policy, and public affairs dedicated to excellence in education and training for public service and for promoting the ideal of public service.

The Alumni Spotlight Award highlights alumni of NASPAA schools who have made significant impacts in their communities and devised innovative solutions to public problems. NASPAA member schools nominate alumni who have who have solved a public problem through innovation, impact and inspiration. This year, NASPAA honored Coltrane, a 2004 graduate of the Bloustein School’s Master in Public Policy program and a 2016 Bloustein School Alumni Association “Young Alumni” Award recipient, serves as the manager for strategic partnerships in Johnson & Johnson’s Corporate Equity Group. In this role, he manages a portfolio of projects that support the company’s global brand strategy and corporate partnerships.

He started his J&J career in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, managing D&I initiatives such as the Gateway to a Healthy Community Initiative and the United Way National Employee Campaign. He has spent the last fifteen years working in the field of community and economic development, helping to empower families, residents and businesses in some of the most distressed communities nationally. That work has included serving as a Senior Policy Advisor to then-Mayor Cory Booker (now U.S. Senator) in the City of Newark, NJ and as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

Coltrane, a resident of Edison, NJ, spends much time volunteering in communities throughout New Jersey. He is currently a Board Member of the Civic League of Greater New Brunswick, the United Way of Central Jersey, The Pennington School Alumni Association and the Bloustein School Alumni Association. He has also served as a volunteer Career Coach for the Johnson & Johnson Bridge to Employment Program, assisting high school students in Plainfield prepare for college and beyond.
