At this point, what we should be most concerned about isn’t the unvaccinated who can’t get into a Justin Bieber concert. It’s the kids age 11 and under who aren’t yet eligible for a shot, the immunocompromised people for whom it may not always work, and the fact that, as long as there are susceptible people, the virus will not go away.
“Given the danger of this virus, each one of us has an obligation to reach herd immunity, to protect other citizens and create a safe environment,” as medical ethicist Patrick Hill of the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy put it. “And if we’re unwilling to do this, we become freeloaders.”
