New Jersey Policy Lab work featured in Results for America report recognizing NJ as an “honor roll” state

January 7, 2022

New Jersey Policy Lab was featured as a “promising example” of the State of New Jersey using program evaluations to improve results, according to a recent Results for America report cited by the Office of the Governor.

This recognizes the New Jersey Policy Lab’s work to:

  1. build coalitions across governments and community organizations in support of evidence-based policy initiatives,
  2. assist stakeholders in troubleshooting implementation issues,
  3. provide data modeling for policy recommendations, and
  4. evaluate the impacts of proposed statewide public policy.

Funded by the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education, New Jersey Policy Lab generates high-quality, nonpartisan research and analysis of policy-based solutions facing New Jersey. This work contributes to the State of New Jersey being recognized as an Honor Roll state in using evidence and data to deliver better results for New Jerseyans.

The Results for America 2021 Invest in What Works State Standard of Excellence report demonstrates that data and evidence can support states in building the capacity to make better decisions about how to drive an economic recovery; advance equitable outcomes for residents and governments; and invest in evidence-based programs and services. The report identifies 202 examples of data-driven and evidence-based practices, policies, programs, and systems in effect as of August 2021 in 36 states across the country. Nine Leading states: Colorado, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, and Utah; and four Honor Roll states: Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island were identified for their commitment to evidence-based policymaking.
