Bloustein School launches 2012-13 Faculty and Research Center Staff Speaker Series

October 4, 2012

The Bloustein School will be hosting a Faculty and Research Center Staff Speaker Series to highlight the work of members of the Bloustein faculty and research center staff.

The presentations will kickoff next Wednesday, October 10 with “Technology Adoption and Structural Poverty: Statewide Evidence from the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program,” by Marc Weiner, Assistant Research Professor and Associate Director and Faculty Fellow of the Bloustein Center for Survey Research.

This talk covers a multi-year multi-investigator study of the adoption of broadband access in New Jersey households, and the optimization of broadband use by New Jersey residents. The theory of technology adoption and the interplay between technology adoption and structural poverty will be explored, as well as empirical findings at the individual and household, community, and state levels of analysis. In addition, insights into the management of a complex grant-funded project will be discussed.

This presentation will be held in the Civic Square Building, Room 261, beginning at 12:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served. The event is free and open to all but RSVP is requested to RSVP@ejb.rutgers.edu.

The next event in the series is scheduled for Monday, October 29.  Hooshang Amirahmadi, Professor and Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, will present, “The Middle East in Transition: Prospects for Democratic Change and Implications for U.S. Policy.”
