Lily McFarland, a second year Master’s in Public Policy candidate at the Bloustein School, is the recipient of a 2024 APPAM Equity & Inclusion Fellowship.
The Equity & Inclusion Fellowship program supports the participation of students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds at the 2024 Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management Annual Fall Research Conference in National Harbor, MD. The goal of the fellowship is to introduce recipients to the world of public policy and to APPAM, and foster a lifelong affiliation and engagement with both.
At the Bloustein School, Lily’s policy interests lie at the intersection of economic justice and the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals and families, particularly those living in poverty. She works as a graduate research assistant at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development to provide assistance on various projects related to social welfare, trauma-informed policy and programs, and economic mobility.
She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy with a concentration in Education Policy Studies.
