Archived qualitative data can extend the value of research by supporting new questions and generating new insights, but reusing interview data presents challenges that researchers, funders, and data stewards need to consider.
Guidance for Preparing and Using Archived Qualitative Data in Research, a new research brief from the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development and Mighty Crow, draws on researchers’ experiences conducting secondary analyses of interview data from the Health Profession Opportunity Grants 2.0 evaluation. The authors highlight lessons learned and offer five practical recommendations for making archived qualitative data more accessible, useful, and effective for future research.
