Dr. Dona Schneider named Dean of University College

September 9, 2015

Dr. Dona Schneider, Professor and Associate Dean for Programs at the Bloustein School, has been appointed Dean of the University College (UC). Professor Schneider is a committed educator and enthusiastic leader, who has an outstanding record in research and teaching in epidemiology and public policy. She has served as Acting Dean of UC since August 1, 2015.

Dr. Schneider also serves as Principal Investigator for the HIV Community Prevention, Support and Development Initiative, a grant-funded unit at the Bloustein School that trains and provides technical assistance to community-based organizations across the state. Professor Schneider primarily teaches courses in epidemiology and serves as article, book and grant reviewer for more than 30 journals and publishing houses. Her curriculum vitae lists more than 150 refereed journal articles, books and book chapters, mostly focusing on mortality, morbidity and risk factors for disease, especially for children and minorities. As a non-traditional student herself, Professor Schneider is particularly sensitive to the needs of those seeking to balance their responsibilities at home and work while also pursuing their academic goals.

The University College supports adult and nontraditional students (including veteran or active duty military service members) enrolled in undergraduate courses on the Rutgers, New Brunswick Campus, as well as advocates for nontraditional students by recommending policies and programs to meet specific the needs of this group of students.
