Pranay Kumar Awarded IAS-STS Fellowship

February 5, 2022

Bloustein School Ph.D. candidate Pranay Kumar has been awarded a fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Studies on Science, Technology, and Society (IAS-STS), TU Graz 2021-22.

Pranay’s dissertation work involves evaluating energy conservation behavior in residential households based on longitudinal and cross-sectional studies. As a part of his research, he is involved with a study on food, energy, and water conservation in residential households under the guidance of his supervisor Prof. Rachael Shwom. The fellowship work will involve a thematic review of the issues, challenges, and possibilities in just, ethical, and efficient energy transition.

The Institute for Advanced Studies offers international research fellows and visiting scholars the opportunity to investigate the social implications of scientific and technological developments. Each year, the IAS-STS hosts around a dozen international researchers for up to nine months. During this period, researchers explore the issues outlined in our fellowship program, the focus of which changes every year.

Within the framework of this fellowship program, the IAS-STS promotes the interdisciplinary investigation of the links and interaction between science, technology, and society, as well as research on the development and implementation of socially sound and environmentally sustainable technologies.
