Bloustein Convocation and Commencement events

CommGraphic_2013On the weekend of May 18-192013 Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy will recognize our graduates. In addition to University Commencement, there is a series of events meant to culminate the experience.

Students with degree dates from October 2012, January 2013 and May 2013 are invited to participate in several distinct and engaging spring ceremonies:

Bloustein School Undergraduate Convocation
Thursday, May 16
6:00 p.m.
State Theatre, 15 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ | Directions

All undergraduate public health and planning and public policy majors, degree and dual degree candidates (January, May and anticipating October 2013) and their families are invited to this convocation ceremony. Students will wear their academic regalia and have their names called as they walk across the stage to be recognized. Certificates and departmental honors will be distributed at this event. The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes and will be followed by a short reception.

RSVP is REQUIRED for this event. Please email convocation@ejb.rutgers.edu to RSVP for this event, including the graduate’s name and the number of people who will be attending.

Bloustein School Graduate Convocation
Saturday, May 18
3:00 p.m.
Nicholas Music Center, Douglass Campus, New Brunswick, NJ | Directions

All public policy and urban planning master’s degree candidates will receive their diplomas at this event. Doctoral degree candidates will also be recognized. A keynote address will be delivered by James G. Bach, PP, chief operating officer, The Louis Berger Group Inc. MCRP, Rutgers Class of 1975.

We anticipate the Bloustein School ceremony on Saturday, May 18th to last approximately one hour, with a reception immediately following at Bettenbender Plaza located outside the Nicholas Music Center. In the event of inclement weather, the reception will be held in Rehearsal Hall 104 inside the Nicholas Music Center.

Seating is limited; printed invitations were previously distributed to degree candidates for family and friends. The invitation will serve as your ticket to the event.

Graduate School-New Brunswick Convocation

All candidates for degrees should arrive by 9:00 a.m.

This must-attend graduation ceremony is an intimate event, where you’ll join with your graduating class and faculty to receive individual recognition. Rutgers University 247th Anniversary Commencement

Rutgers University’s 247th Anniversary University Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. in High Point Solutions Stadium at Rutgers–New Brunswick on the Busch Campus. Here, graduates from all schools and all campuses come together in a culminating celebration where the president of the university confers all degrees. You may invite as many family members and friends as you wish to witness this special occasion.

We are proud to have The Honorable Virginia Long, Rutgers School of Law–Newark alumna and retired Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court give this year’s Commencement Address. Visithttp://commencement.rutgers.edu/ for more information.

Bloustein School Undergraduate Reception
Sunday, May 19
2:30-4:30 p.m.
Rutgers Visitors Center, 100 Sutphen Road, Piscataway, NJ | Directions

Immediately following University Commencement, there will be a Bloustein School Undergraduate Reception for all public health and planning and public policy graduates (January, May and anticipating October 2013) from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Rutgers Visitor Center, which is a short walk from High Point Solutions Stadium. Light refreshments will be served, graduation names and degrees will be displayed on the large jumbotron monitors during the event, and a class photo will be taken. All faculty, students and families are welcome to attend. No registration necessary.
