NJTIP@Rutgers helps participants explore accessible public transit services in Middlesex County

September 24, 2013

njtip-getgoing2 njtip-getgoing1NJTIP @ Rutgers, with support from the Alliance Center for Independence, hosted a “Get Going with Transit!” event in downtown New Brunswick on Thursday, September 19.  More than twenty participants learned about accessible public transit services in Middlesex County, with a guided tour of the New Brunswick Train station, a “hands-on” tour of a NJ Transit bus, and a presentation from MCAT – Middlesex County’s own public transit service.  Participants had the opportunity explore how transit becomes more accessible by using lift and kneeling features, taking elevators to train platforms, and seeing how customer information can be obtained through the phone, on line, and in bus and rail stations.
