University Operating Status

UPDATE: Select exams scheduled for this afternoon on the College Avenue campus at Rutgers-New Brunswick have been relocated. Please check with your departments and instructors about exam locations. All other exams and activities are taking place as scheduled. ​​​​​​Civic Square remains open. Activities such as the undergraduate poster sessions will be taking place as scheduled.

Special speaker presentation on transportation disaster coordination in US and China, October 28

As part of the three-day Workshop on Transportation Disaster Coordination in the U.S. and China, Mr. Weng Lei, Deputy Director General for Safety & Supervision, Ministry of Transport, People’s Republic of China, will present an overview of several mega transportation projects recently completed or being constructed in China on Monday, October 28 at 5:00 p.m. Mr. Weng will also discuss how the Ministry of Transport seeks to integrate safety, security and resiliency into these huge projects from design through construction. The Bloustein School and the Center for Advanced Infrastructure & Transportation (CAIT) are co-sponsoring this event.

This event will be held in the Special Events Forum, Civic Square Building, 33 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ and co-hosted by James W. Hughes, Dean of the Bloustein School and  Thomas N. Farris, Dean of the School of Engineering. It is free and open to all Rutgers faculty, staff and students, and international students from across the Rutgers campuses are encouraged to attend.  The event will be followed by a reception. Click here to register.

The U.S./China Transportation Forum, which was established in November, 2008 the Secretary of the U.S. Department Transportation and the Minister of Transportation for the People’s Republic of China, provides an opportunity for the countries to share information for mutual benefit. The forum meets once annually, alternating between the two countries. Five working groups support the Transportation Forum, one of which is the Safety and Disaster Assistance Working Group (DAWG). The U.S. co-chair of the DAWG is Michael Lowder, the Director of Intelligence, Security and Emergency Response for the Secretary’s Office of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Chinese co-chair is Mr. WANG Jinfu, Director General Safety and Supervision, Ministry of Transport, People’s Republic of China.

The Workshop on Transportation Disaster Coordination in the U.S. and Chinais the fifth annual DAWG Workshop to be held, and will be hosted on the Rutgers University campus October 27-29, 2013.
